The Wonder Woman reboot may have failed as a TV show, but if Danish director Nicolas Winding Refn has his way, DC Comics’ All-American heroine will become the subject of a feature film starring “Mad Men” redheaded brick house, Christina Hendricks.
HOT SHOTS: Christina Hendricks.
…
As absolutely perfect as Christina Hendricks would be, I hope to god they get another director.
“You know, the whole Wonder Woman concept is ‘What if women were more powerful than men?’”
No. It’s not. Wonder Woman doesn’t exist to emasculate men and do the ‘rah rah girl power!’ thing, she exists to be a powerful warrior who protects the earth. I don’t think this director can differentiate between “girl power” and “powerful girl-or woman.” Wonder Woman doesn’t try to emasculate men, she fights alongside them.
I hate that director for this line alone: “She has everything a guy would want. And yet she’s everything a girl thinks is the right way to look.” Wow, way to perpetuate more body insecurity among girls. There is no right way to look, idiot. I don’t want this guy to get his hands on the most powerful female superhero in history. I can tell, there’d be too much sexualizing the beautiful Christina Hendricks in his movie.
He uses “real woman” language and um, excuse me, but women are women whether they have the curves of Wonder Woman or the more petite figure of Lois Lane.

You’re left groping for a succinct way to summarize a process that is about as easy to define as the alchemical recipe for turning lead into gold. After you’ve been asked for about the twentieth time you realize that most of them don’t really want to know all the myriad places you pulled little pieces of your story from. They want something short and sweet and easily digestible.
So, here’s a bit about my novel and what I say in response to the inevitable question about my inspiration……Read More
